This is the transcript for the video Postgraduate – How to apply for domestic students

Hi, I’m John – from the UTS student recruitment team. This video is a guide to help you apply for a postgraduate coursework degree at UTS. I’ll go through the important points you need to know in applying for your course at UTS. Note, the information in this video is for domestic students.

Firstly, here’s some general information you need to know before applying.

You can apply to all postgraduate courses through our UTS Student Portal.

You can find the student portal by going to the postgraduate application page and clicking on the ‘Apply Now’ button.

Be sure to check the opening and closing application dates depending on which session you’re applying for. You can find these on our website.

This section of the video will show you how to apply. Firstly, you’ll need to register via our UTS Student Portal. If you’re new to UTS, simply create a new account to get started. Have you studied at UTS before? You’ll be able to sign in using your previous details. If you’ve forgotten your password, simply click on Forgotten your password to reset it.

In your application, you can include up to 3 active postgraduate applications at a time.

Once you’re logged in, you select:

  1. “Apply for a course”
  2. Fill in your personal details
    a) If you’re new, complete the details
    b) If you’re a previous or current UTS student, you can review/update information as required

Select ‘Postgraduate Application’

3. Select your course

4. Upload the relevant documents

5. And You’re done!

The most common question that we get from applicants is – what documents will I need to submit with my application? We’ll need the following to get started – the more information and documentation you can provide us with, the faster we can process your application.

Certified academic transcript: If you studied at an Australian university, this is not mandatory and we will be able to review your academic record separately. This is mandatory for all international qualifications.

Evidence of English Language Proficiency – this is required for all applicants to UTSIf you’ve previously studied in English, you may satisfy the UTS English language requirements in one of several ways. You must have, an assessable qualification undertaken in English, including: Senior secondary studies, one year of Australian or comparable tertiary studies, diploma or Advanced DiplomaCompleted another accepted course/qualification taught in EnglishMore information on the UTS English Language Requirements webpage.

Any course-specific additional documentation such as a personal statement describing your motivations for studying the course, Statement of Service from your employer (or a letter of employment)Curriculum Vitae (CV); and/or Portfolio.

Applications are assessed progressively in order of submission dateYou will receive an outcome via your registered email addressFor previous UTS students, remember to provide an alternative email if you don’t have access to your alumni email addressOffers are made progressively up to the commencement of the relevant sessionYou can check on the progress of your application via the UTS Student PortalTo accept your offer and enrol, log in to My Student Admin to accept your offer. You will see an Offers tab where you can accept your offer.
